Aboriginal Music Week has added Juno-winning bluesman George Leach to its list of acts that will perform at the festival, which runs Aug. 16-21 in Winnipeg.
Winnipeg rockers The Mosquitoz and Desiree Dorion, a lawyer by day and country singer by night, were also added Wednesday to the lineup.
Leach will be supporting his recent release Surrender, a follow-up of his Juno-winning debut.
Aboriginal Music Week will also feature for the first time a native American fashion show, Aug. 17 at the Pyramid Cabaret, where jewelry by Turquoise Soul and Shayne Watson Designs traditional and contemporary wear will be presented.
Aboriginal Music Week, which runs along with the Manito Ahbee Festival, was launched in 2009 by Aboriginal Music Manitoba to develop aboriginal youth as an audience for live music. Go to aboriginalmusicweek.ca for the full festival schedule.
