Manitoba’s music community will once again hurry hard for a good cause.
The fifth annual Manitoba Music Rocks Charity Bonspiel, presented by Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film & Music, will take place Feb. 28, 2015 at the Granite Curling Club.
The event, which sells out quickly every year, will raise funds and awareness for the Kevin Walters Memorial Fund, a charity that provides financial support for promising performers and organizations in music, film, performance and the creative arts.
Walters, who died in June 2014, was a tireless advocate for the local arts community and worked closely with both Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film & Music.
"Kevin was a cornerstone in our industry," says Manitoba Music's executive director, Sara Stasiuk in a release. "He had such incredible talent for uniting people for a common goal. We're absolutely thrilled to bring our community together and pay tribute to him with the kind of fun event that he loved and help continue his legacy."
Registration is now open to people of all skill levels. Cost is $40 per person ($160 per team), and includes curling, dinner and a toque. Proceeds will be donated to the Kevin Walters Memorial Fund. To register, call 204-942-8650 or email curling@manitobamusic.com
