Hey there, time traveller!

They’ve both had a shot at being The Next Star, and now two Winnipeg teens are re-entering the reality/competition realm to see if they can win a spot in a made-in-Canada supergroup.
Mimoza Duot, 16, and Dane Bjornson, 14, are among 30 finalists selected to compete in The Next Star: Supergroup, a new ensemble-focused version the youth-focused singing-contest series that premières tonight at 9 on YTV.
Duot was a top-six finalist in The Next Star’s third season, while Bjornson made it to the top 12 in Season 4.
In The Next Star: Supergroup, the 30 finalists will travel to Toronto to compete in groups of five while being mentored by a panel of experts. Two of the groups will be selected to compete in the series finale, with the winner to be determined by viewers’ votes. The successful “supergroup” will receive a management contract from 21 Entertainment and will have two original songs released by Sony Music (Canada).
The Next Star is also embarking on an audition tour for the seventh season of its solo-singing competition; open tryouts will be held in Winnipeg on May 3. Full details will be released at the end of March at nextstar.ytv.com.
