Winnipeg, Cultural city of the Prairies, home of numerous festivals will again be home for the Irish Festival. In its 26th year the Irish Fest as it is known locally, is hosted by Comhaltas (Coal Tas) Winnipeg. The festival highlights both local and international talent in the traditional Irish Arts. This year’s centre piece act features the “Echoes of Erin Tour”. The tour features fourteen of Ireland’s most distinguished players and dancers on Saturday September 24 at the West End Cultural Centre. The Friday night Kick off featuring local performers kicks off at Shannon’s Irish Pub at 7. Workshops in music, dance and other arts run Saturday at Kelvin High School and Sunday at the Irish Club. Finally, to close off the weekend there is a Ceili (Kay Lee) at the Irish Club beginning at 3 PM that is free to the public. A Ceili is a big dance party where the whole family can participate and it is a barrel of fun. Weekend pass to all events and workshops is $55. Friday night tickets are $10 at the door. Echoes of Erin tickets are $25. Sunday Ceili free at the Irish Club. Passes and individual tickets are available at McNally Robinson.
