THE east side of the Exchange district is turning up the heat this weekend with a little Latin flavour.
Starting on Friday night, a trio of businesses are teaming up to deliver what they say is Winnipeg's first Carnaval-themed street party. The festivities will stretch down Bannatyne Avenue between Waterfront Drive and Rorie Street, and will feature live dance music and — in true South American style — loads of great food.
The event will serve as a grand opening of sorts for Corrientes Pizzeria and vegan burger joint Boon Burger's second location, which recently opened in the area. Hermanos will also serve up sizzling plates from the barbecue.
The outdoor party runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. After the outdoor shindig shuts down, revellers can head on in to Alive In The District nightclub to keep the party going until 2 a.m.
