Hey there, time traveller!

To Sorel or not to Sorel, that is the question -- or at least it was my question a few years back when I wrote about winter footwear.
While I was 100 per cent on board with the fact that Sorel boots would keep your toes toasty warm, I still felt that a fashionista should find a more stylish option to sustain her through the winter months.
But, tired of losing my leather boots in a battle with street salt (those salt-stain removers do work somewhat, but only with a lot of elbow grease, and it doesn't last long), I decided it was high time I wised up with a functional pair of winter boots.
So here we are, nearly four years later, and I think I have finally have a definitive answer to my question: to Sorel.
It actually wasn't a particularly hard decision, considering how stylish this once-utilitarian boot has become over the years.
Today's Sorel was made for anyone looking to unlock her inner winter goddess. Think gorgeous furs, warm suedes and contrasting textures, mixed with the classic Sorel rubber sole and thermal felt liners.
For me, it had to be the classic Caribou boot in black suede. I love that I can wear these boots with a tailored wool dress coat when the weather isn't too unbearable or with a fur hat and fitted parka on those extra cold days.
Either way, my feet stay dry and warm and I'm not ruining yet another pair of leather boots, thanks to the rubber shoe -- and they do add an element of style to a winter outfit.
For the more fashion forward the Joan of Arctic Premium is the boot for you. This nearly to the knee boot is an extension of the Caribou, but comes with a faux fur snow cuff to keep you extra warm.
If you prefer a more "dressy" look, opt for the Joan of Ark wedge, which has the same moulded rubber outer sole that makes a Sorel a Sorel. For those looking for something a little unique, the Cate of Alexandria or Conquest Carly Short boots incorporate style elements such as straps and snaps.
With the big dump of snow we had the other week, I know I was extremely happy with my winter footwear choice -- were you? Go ahead and be one with winter -- it may linger longer than we want it to but at least we can look great (and warm) while enduring it.
