The Audi 2013 S6 and S7 hatchback models have arrived at St. James Audi, and sales rep Jeff Harochaw and his colleagues couldn't be more excited.
"The S6 and S7 are the ultimate mid-size sports machines," Harochaw says. "The new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V-8 engines put out 420 horsepower and 405 foot-pounds of torque and they go from 0 to 100 in 4.7 seconds."
One of the new technological features, Harochaw notes, is that the vehicles have the ability to operate on four cylinders or eight cylinders. "If, for example, you are on the highway and want improved fuel economy, you can shut down four cylinders," he says.
He notes the new models have incorporated Audi's latest Quattro AWD system with a differential transfer ability that can transfer almost all the torque to one of the rear wheels to enhance agility.
Harochaw points out that inside the Audi S6 and S7, drivers can access the Multi Media Interface (MMI) controls entertainment, communication and navigation functions via a dash-mounted pop-up screen and a knob and buttons on the centre console. The system combines logical menus, crisp graphics and a touchpad to increase functionality.
Also new is the optional Audi Pre-Sense Plus -- part of the Innovation and Driver assistance Packages -- which alerts the driver if a potential collision is detected and automatically applies the brakes if necessary.
Also of note is the Comfort Seating package, which features multi-contour front seats with ventilation and the ability to provide back massages while you drive.
Standard features on the models include 19-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, adaptive air suspension, power sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, heated auto-dimming side-view mirrors, park assist with rear-view camera, garage door opener, Audi Drive Select, diamond-stitched leather upholstery, real ash wood accents, 12-way power heated front sport seats, driver memory settings, power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, four-zone automatic climate control, a navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, Audi Connect Internet integration and a Bose audio system with CD/DVD player, HD radio and USB/iPod interface.
The base price for the S6 is $82,300 (plus freight and pdi). The S7 sells for a standard price of $89,300 (plus freight and pdi). Readers who may want to try out the S6 or S7 should get down to St. James Audi soon. Only one of each are in the showroom.
CARS consolidates operations in larger location
Terry Smith's business philosophy is you should always give the consumer the straight goods. His emphasis on old-fashioned values played a major role in the growth of Boyd Autobody (from which he is now retired) and is playing the same role in the growth in sales at CARS, his 18-month-old used-car business.
CARS' business grew so much in just the first year that Smith has had to close his two locations on west Portage near the Perimeter and on Wilkes and combine them in a much larger facility at 3165 McGillivray Blvd. (the former Zirino's Truck Repair) in Fort Whyte just west of Kenaston.
The new CARS sits on 16.5 acres (6.7 hectares). "We are building up to 200 late models in stock," Smith says, "a mix of domestics and imports. We carry a good selection of trucks and SUVs."
CARS has a sales staff of four led by general manager Mark Bychkowsky and sales manager Casey Jones.
One of the features that sets CARS apart from the competition is its no-questions-asked return and exchange policy. Customers can return their purchases for up to five days (or 1,000 kilometres) after they buy their vehicles should their circumstances change or they change their minds.
"Our forthright approach seems to have struck a chord with customers," Smith says. "I felt that we had a better way to do business and our sales growth seems to be proving me right."
Waverley Chrysler raises money for breast cancer research
On Friday, Oct. 19, Waverley Chrysler Dodge Jeep's staff came to work "Dressed for the Cure." All the staff wore pink for the day as part of a fundraiser for cancer research. Between raffles and putting contests, the staff and dealership raised $1,963 for cancer research.
"This is the second year we have done this," says co-dealer principal Steve Dennis. "We have a great staff. Everyone participated."
