Jane likes to dig and she likes to write. She does her best work reporting at the intersection of health and human rights and she can tell you a story in 140 characters or in 2,000 words.
Jane’s early career has run the gamut from court reporting in downtown Toronto to feature writing in the Amazon. She’s filed stories from the Yukon and Ecuador and many places in between, mostly in English but also in Spanish.
Jane joined the Free Press in March 2017, after an early career that saw her reporting for The Wall Street Journal, The Toronto Star, and The Canadian Press. As a freelancer, her work has appeared on Vice and Daily Xtra.
Jane is the author of Ashton’s Second Act: How, Post-Stroke, An Actor Learned To Play Himself Again, an eBook available on iTunes. She has an MFA in narrative nonfiction writing from Baltimore’s Goucher College and a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa.
When not researching, reporting or writing, Jane plays soccer, hockey, and ultimate or goes on adventures with her dog Charlie.
