National accounting competition begins in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG - Accounting students from across the country are converging in Winnipeg this week to participate in a national competition. The ninth annual Gathering of Accounting Associates Professionals and Students Conference (GAAPS) has attracted teams of students from universities in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, as well as from the U of W and the U of M. The annual event is sponsored by the Asper School of Business Accounting Association and the Certified General Accountants of Manitoba. The conference pits teams in an accounting-focused case competition. The competition takes place Friday, with finalists squaring off Saturday morning. The event takes place at Canad Inns Polo Park.
