Winnipeg police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in the city’s 10th homicide of the year.
The teen is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Trevor Abraham Harper, 20, who was shot last Friday.
Harper was rushed to Health Sciences Centre but died last Saturday as a result of his injuries.
Investigators have learned Harper, in the company of another male and a female, was inside a vehicle in the rear lane of the 500 block of Portage Avenue when they were approached by a number of males.
One of the males tapped on the window with a handgun and demanded the occupants get out of the car. The driver immediately reversed the vehicle, and the handgun was fired, striking Harper in the upper body, police said.
Police said officers arrested a 15-year-old suspect shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday near Pembina Highway and Plaza Drive.
The teen has been charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody.
