Despite the fact that more than 10 million acres went unseeded, the 2010-2011 crop year will yield one of the largest returns ever for Prairie farmers.
At the Canadian Wheat Board’s annual crop year-end results conference today, CEO Ian White said the estimated returns will be $5.8 billion — the fourth highest in history.
Higher grain prices accounted for the strong financial results as export volumes of 15.8 million tonnes of wheat, durum and barley were three million tonnes less than the previous year and the lowest level in six years.
