The RCMP believe they have found the body of a woman reported missing in the Swan River area in January.
RCMP spokesman Cpl. Miles Hiebert said the body of a woman was found Thursday in an outdoor area in Benito.
“We have not confirmed the identity but it’s believed to be the same individual,” Cpl. Hiebert said, adding there are no other reports of a missing woman in that area.
An alert was issued Jan. 12 for the public’s help in locating Beverly Lynn Chartrand, 30, who was last seen early on the morning of Jan. 8 walking near her home in Benito.
Cpl. Hiebert said the area was searched at the time but it had just snowed, adding that made it difficult for searchers.
Hiebert said the woman’s body was found in the same area that was searched in January.
An autopsy is planned for early next week.
