The Winnipeg Jets may soon be adding a familiar name to bolster their blueline depth.
KHL team HC Sibir Novosibirsk is reporting on its website that Arturs Kulda, who played nine games with the Jets and 63 with the St. John’s IceCaps last season, will rejoin the team here in Winnipeg.
The 24-year-old Latvian had nine goals and six assists in 50 games with Sibir Novosibirsk this season. The KHL club announced his contract, which was to expire on April 30th, had been mutually terminated so he could join the Jets.

The Jets are still without Toby Enstrom, who is out with a shoulder injury but has resumed skating. And in Sunday’s shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils, Derek Meech played his first game of the NHL season after being called up from the IceCaps.
Also worth noting is this: the NHL trading deadline, set for April 3rd, is fast approaching.
