A city-wide residential street plowing operation begins 7 a.m. Wednesday but motorists will not be required to keep their vehicles off the street.

However, city hall would be grateful if you did.

The city is rolling out a three-day plowing operation in preparation for the spring melt and to clear ditches.

The plowing schedule will follow the KnowYourZone program but this operation does not involve a residential parking ban — which means no tickets or towing for vehicles left on residential streets.

But the city says street plowing is more effective if vehicles are kept off the street during this time and is asking motorists to cooperate.

The plowing operation will begin in the following zones Wednesday morning: E, I M, O, S, and U.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the operation moves to zones: D, G, J, L, N, R, and V.

Check the city’s website, at knowyourzone.winnipeg.ca for the remainder of the schedule and to see a map of the zones.
