Defenceman Toby Enstrom was missing from practice today but will be in the lineup Sunday afternoon when the Winnipeg Jets wind up a three-game stay at home with a 3:30 p.m. start against the St. Louis Blues (TSN3, TSN1290).
Enstrom was just given a day off, coach Paul Maurice said after practice at the MTS Centre. The veteran defenceman played the most minutes for his team on Thursday, 24 minutes 9 seconds, and has played the most minutes for the Jets all season, averaging 25:10 per game. That total ranks him 10th overall among all NHL skaters this season.
Sunday’s matchup between the Jets and Blues is the first of five meetings this season. Oddly, the next game doesn’t come until Feb. 26 — more than three months from now — in Winnipeg.
The Jets are coming off Thursday’s 4-3 home loss to the Detroit Red Wings. They’re at 10-8-3 in the Central Division.
The Blues are playing an afternoon game in Ottawa today and stand two points ahead of Winnipeg in the Central, at 12-6-1.
