Winnipeg police have released new details about the suspect involved in Wednesday’s explosion outside of the Law Courts.
The suspect is described as male, in his mid-20s, aboriginal in appearance with some facial hair and wearing sunglasses and a hat.
Const. Rob Carver said the suspect placed a backpack on the sidewalk in front the building on York Avenue and lit on fire before leaving on a small bicycle at about 2 p.m.
Carver said the backpack exploded while a building employee was putting out the fire with an extinguisher. The man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital for precautionary measures, but neither he nor several bystanders were injured.
Anyone with information on the suspect or explosion is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
