The lost six months in which Conan O’Brien disappeared from the broadcast realm are detailed in a film that will play in Winnipeg for one night only next month.
After losing hosting duties on The Tonight Show, talk show host Conan O’Brien struck a deal with NBC that prevented him from appearing on television, radio and the Internet for six months following his last show.
So O’Brien took to live performances on a 32-city tour, dubbed his "Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television" tour. O’Brien’s dramatic career shift was captured in the documentary Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop, which will play for one night in Winnipeg at Silver City Polo Park on Thursday, July 7.
The film, directed by Rodman Flender, opens a window into O’Brien’s life and concert tour from the writer’s room to the rehearsal hall to performance venue, including bits with Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and Jim Carrey.
The film will open for regular runs in Toronto and Vancouver but will play for just the one night in Winnipeg. Tickets will be available on June 17 at Silver City Polo Park, through the Cineplex Mobile Apps and online at www.cineplex.com.
