Heritage Winnipeg presented its 24th annual preservation awards at a ceremony on Monday, which was Louis Riel Day in Manitoba and National Heritage Day across Canada.
The conservation award of excellence in the residential category went to the Caleb Group of Companies and Saunders Evans Plosker Wotherspoon Architects Inc. for Manoir de la Cathédrale, 321 Avenue de la Cathédrale.
The institutional award went to the province and Bridgman Collaborative Architecture for the A.A. Heaps Building, 254 Portage Ave.
Commercial awards went to ID Fashion Ltd. & Cohlmeyer Architecture Ltd. for the Henderson Block, 332 Bannatyne Ave and to Birks Inc., and Oberti Architecture & Urban Design Inc. for Birks Jewelers (in the Union Trust Tower), 191 Lombard Ave.
The distinguished service award went to The Broadcaster, West Broadway Views & News, for their efforts to strongly communicate heritage conservation in the West Broadway neighbourhood.
