WINNIPEG - Residential School survivors at Long Plains First Nation will share their stories with the community this week.
Today and tomorrow, the First Nation is hosting an event in partnership with the Truth & Reconciliation Commission. Residential School survivors, community youth and families will participate in statement taking, sharing circles and other ceremonies at two locations in the community.
Internationally acclaimed artists who have direct or indirect ties to the Residential School system will participate, creating art with an emphasis on healing to mark the event.
All First Nations, as well as interested non-aboriginals, are invited to attend.
