A former public relations official and senior adviser to several federal government departments has been appointed a key adviser to Mayor Brian Bowman.
Members of council were informed late Monday afternoon that John Morris has been appointed director of the Office of Policy and Strategic Initiatives.
The Office of Policy and Strategic Initiatives was initiated by Bowman in late November and approved by council in December. It’s a political body that advises the mayor and members of his executive policy committee.
The position of director had been vacant while a search was conducted for an individual to head it up.
Morris is described as a former resident of the North End who held senior positions with the federal public service and for the past two years was vice-president of public affairs for Fleishman-Hillard, a public relations firm.
