Premier Greg Selinger today declared the first year of reducing class sizes a success.
The province will cap kindergarten to Grade 3 classes at 20 by 2017.
Selinger said that the province added 79 teachers this year, increasing by 13.7 per cent the number of K-3 classes with 20 or fewer students. There’s a 20 per cent reduction in classes with 24 or more students, and an 11 per cent drop in classes with 23 or fewer students.
