Education Minister Nancy Allan has increased education funding by $27.2 million for 2013-2014.

That's a 2.3 per cent increase in the province's share of the $2 billion public education system.

Allan said the government's priorities are smaller class sizes, literacy, and numeracy.

Similar funding last year led school boards to raise property taxes an average of 5.1 per cent.
