A taser, or conducted energy weapon, was found after a search of the 26-year-old's vehicle.
Headingley RCMP and Manitoba RCMP major crimes have arrested a man after receiving reports of an erratic driver on the Perimeter Highway.
Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of an erratic driver and stopped the vehicle near Highway 7. According to RCMP it appeared a physical altercation had taken place between the occupants of the vehicle and the driver was arrested.
Police allege the driver then became combative, resisted arrest, and gave a fake name once in custody. Upon learning his real name, RCMP said it was determined the driver had several warrants for his arrest in Quebec and Ontario. After searching the vehicle, officers discovered several weapons including a taser.
The 26-year-old Quebec man faces several charges related to possession of a prohibited weapon, identity fraud, obstruction and traffic offences.
