Winnipeg speedskater Heather McLean made her return to competition in spectacular fashion at the ISU World Cup in Heerenveen, Netherlands, today.
The 28-year-old, a member of the Canadian long-track national team for the past eight seasons, grabbed a third-place finish in the women's 500 metres in a time of 37.368. McLean finished just behind gold medallist Femke Kok of the Netherlands and silver medallist Angelina Golikova of Russia.
It was McLean's first event of the season while most of her international competition had returned previously to competition during the pandemic.
