Fans of Dauphin's Countryfest will have to wait till next year.
Organizers of the country music festival, which has been held at the Selo Ukraina site south of the western Manitoba city since 1990, have decided to postpone the event to 2022, citing the ongoing uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It's the second year in a row that the pandemic led to a Countryfest postponement.
Work is already underway for a 2022 Countryfest, scheduled for July 1-3 next year, and general manager Rob Waloschuk says Scottish-Canadian country singer Johnny Reid has confirmed he will be one of the headliners.
Many ticketholders for the 2020 event kept their passes for 2021, and Countryfest is offering incentives for them to hang on to them for another year, including an exclusive performance by Alberta country singer Corb Lund.
Countryfest officials are also planning smaller-scale "COVID-safe events" for later in the summer if public health guidelines allow them.
