Provincial health officials announced 109 new cases of COVID-19 and one more death in Manitoba Wednesday.
Laboratory testing of previously reported cases has identified 22 cases of the B.1.1.7 variant and 3 uncategorized variant of concern cases.
Public health officials have reported a total of 299 variant of concern cases in Manitoba including 261 cases of B.1.1.7, 20 cases of B.1.351, zero cases of P.1 and 18 uncategorized cases
There are 1,294 active cases in Manitoba, with 140 people in hospital, 32 of them in intensive care.
The five-day test positivity rate is 4.8 in Manitoba, and 4.4 in Winnipeg.
The new death is:
• a man in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region.
Of the new cases announced Wednesday, 51 are in the Winnipeg health region, 2 in Southern Health; 3 in Interlake–Eastern; 4 in Prairie Mountain; and 49 in Northern Health.
