Portage la Prairie RCMP have made two arrests and seized methamphetamines after a traffic stop on the Trans-Canada Highway.
In a release Monday RCMP said officers stopped a vehicle in connection with a controlled drugs and substances investigation around 4 p.m. Saturday, just outside the RM of Portage la Prairie.
When searching the vehicle RCMP said officers seized around nine ounces of methamphetamine, an unknown substance that is being tested and identified, and a weapon.
A 37-year-old man and 40-year-old Amanda Caskey, both from Portage, were arrested. Both suspects were charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. Caskey was also faces a weapons charge and a charge for failure to comply. RCMP said the man was released while Caskey remains in custody.
