Impaired drivers have caused two accidents involving RCMP cruisers over a span of two days, say RCMP.
The first happened in Thompson on Sunday. A driver exiting a parking lot didn’t yield before pulling into oncoming traffic, causing a police cruiser to swerve over the curb and snowbank and smash into a lamp post, say RCMP. The driver appeared impaired and was arrested, RCMP say.
The second happened in Steinbach on Monday evening. RCMP say a driver swerved into oncoming traffic, directly at the police cruiser. They say the cruiser veered right, and the driver hit the rear driver side door of the cruiser. The 38-year-old driver was over double the legal limit for alcohol, say RCMP.
