A months-long investigation by Thompson RCMP led police to seize drugs, pills and cash in two separate raids in the northern Manitoba city.
On April 2, Thompson RCMP, along with several major police units, executed a search warrant at a warehouse on Severn Crescent. The warehouse is associated with a local business, which police believe has ties to drug trafficking and organized crime. Police seized a "large quantity" of illicit pills, a "large sum" of cash, a large safe encased in concrete and drug-related paraphernalia, RCMP said.
Then on April 30, RCMP executed a search warrant at an apartment on Princeton Drive. Officers seized approximately 315 grams of cocaine, illicit pills, cash and drug related paraphernalia.
Two Thompson men, 49-year-old Dennis Thomas and 64-year-old Christopher Pearce, were arrested. Thomas was remanded into custody for a court appearance scheduled May 3 in Thompson Provincial court. Pearce was released from custody to appear in Thompson Provincial court on September 24.
