Police are investigating Winnipeg’s latest homicide — a fatal shooting downtown.
Officers were sent to the 300 block of Kennedy Street shortly after midnight Thursday after they were told someone had been shot.
The man was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he died of his injuries. Police identified him as Marlon Jose Chamorro-Gonzales, 48, of Winnipeg.
About an hour after police arrived at the scene of the homicide, a 47-year-old man who had been stabbed in an unrelated incident approached officers there and asked for help. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.
The Winnipeg Police Service is asking anyone with information about the killing to call their homicide unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477)
