The 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, slated for Thunder Bay in just over a week, has been given the go-ahead by the Ontario provincial government, according to a news agency in northwestern Ontario.
TBNewswatch is reporting today the national women's curling championship will be staged at the Fort William Gardens, starting on Jan. 28. But the event will be run in a bubble format, with no fans in the building and limited media participation.
A similiar setup was used last spring in Calgary for several championships, including the 2021 Scotties.
Curling Canada has yet to confirm the news.
Three Manitoba teams are confirmed for the Scotties. Two-time defending champion Kerri Einarson of Gimli returns as Team Canada, Mackenzie Zacharias goes as Team Manitoba, while Tracy Fleury of East St. Paul competes as a wild-card team.
