The National Hockey League has suspended Washington Capitals defenceman Dmitry Orlov for two games for a knee-on-knee hit Tuesday night that injured Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers.
The blue-liner will forfeit $51,000 in salary as a result.
Officials didn't even call a minor penalty on the play, and Orlov remained in the game where he assisted on Tom Wilson's overtime winner. Ehlers is out of the lineup indefinitely and will miss at least the next three games. He is undergoing further evaluation.
