Two teenagers have been arrested after one brandished a Japanese martial arts weapon while running from police.
Officers witnessed a suspect assaulting a 39-year-old man in the area of Sargent Avenue and Spence Street just after midnight Sunday. The suspect fled on foot, and produced an 18-inch sai-style weapon — a hand-held weapon with several prongs — before discarding it. He was tased before being taken into custody and the weapon was recovered. The suspect was treated for minor injuries sustained during the incident.

A second suspect fled on a bicycle stolen from the victim and was later apprehended. The bike was returned to the victim.
Police believe the suspects, both 16-year-old boys, and the victim didn't know each other previously, and instead got into an argument that escalated into a robbery.
One suspect has been charged with robbery, and possession of a concealed weapon. He has been released on a notice to appear. The other faces charges of robbery, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a sentence. He remains in custody.
