SUMMARY:2nd Annual Reconciliation Walk: Bridging the Gap and Moving Forward
DESCRIPTION:A Community Call to Action: Stand in Solidarity and Healing \nResidents\, families\, and neighbors from Winnipeg and all surrounding Manitoba communities are called to come together for a powerful morning of active reflection\, traditional learning\, and unity. Hosted by Hope Igniters of Winnipeg INC.\, the 2nd Annual Reconciliation Walk is a dedicated grassroots space to honor residential school survivors\, remember the families\, and take practical steps forward together as a community. \nThis is much more than a walk. It is a full community itinerary grounded in cultural ceremony\, guided throughout by an accompanying Elder and Fire Keepers. Public participants are invited to immerse themselves in the full gathering elements\, which take place rain-or-shine. The grounds are fully wheelchair accessible and proudly pet-friendly so all visiting families\, friends\, and furry friends are welcome to join the circle. \nMorning Itinerary and Ceremonies:\n8:30 AM: Opening Address and Welcomes\n9:00 AM: Sacred Fire Ceremony and Teachings (Featuring traditional drumming\, singing\, and dancing at the medicine wheel)\n10:15 AM: Guided Tour and Historical Teachings led by an accompanying Elder\n11:30 AM: Reflection\, Group Discussion and Closing Ceremony \nCommunity Care Amenities:\nTo support all our participants\, free food and light meals\, traditional Elder’s tea\, and official orange shirts will be fully provided at the conclusion of the walk. To ensure fair distribution across all visiting guests\, these items are available on a first-come\, first-served basis\, while supplies last. Please arrive early. \nOur community initiative is proudly funded by the Government of Manitoba’s Orange Shirt Day Fund and features an official written greeting from Premier Wab Kinew.
