Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 26/5/2007 (4873 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
You've painstakingly searched through the racks of every bridal store, trying on every lace, beaded and chiffon dress on the racks until you found that perfect gown. You've sampled all those tasty morsels to find the best cake in town, smelled countless lilies, orchids and gerber daisies and finally decided on the most stunning bouquet.
The invitations are in the mail, the DJ is booked, along with the photographer, videographer and limo driver. Think you have it all done? Well, you might want to think again. I've been told the one thing the bride -- and groom, for that matter -- often overlooks or puts off until the very last minute is accessories.
Well, I can't blame you brides-to-be. Much of what's out there isn't exactly fashionable. It's nice, as in pretty-princess nice, but not all that fashion-forward.
The same goes for the shoes. Wouldn't it be great to find a pair of shoes you could wear on your wedding day and still have a chance to wear again -- given the opportunity and the right outfit, of course?
Now brides- and grooms-to-be may be in luck.
Let's start off with the footwear in which you'll walk down the aisle. Most of the time, the best options you can find are either acrylic, see-though shoes in a style that dancers might wear, white runners or sandals -- ewww -- or those dye-to-match satin numbers. But now there's another option.
John Fluevog has come out with a line called SoleMate -- an all-white collection any urban fashionista would be glad to wear on his or her wedding day. And as faithful Fluevog-wearers already know, these funky shoes will be by far the most comfortable kicks you will ever find on the market -- apart from slippers.
To create the nuptial-friendly line, the team at Fluevog picked out some of their most popular styles and tried them out in "traditional" wedding hues. And after much testing and a little trial and error, they came up with their SoleMate collection, which includes the Katrin, the Lover, the Laurelei, the Men's Sigurd, the Cecily, the Sandra and, my personal favourite, the Lily Darling.
Once you've nailed down the shoe selection, it's onward and upward to the jewelry department. Of course, you can settle for the costume stuff found at some mall stores, but why not opt for a piece of original Vintage Bling and knock off your old and new with one stone?
Vintage Bling offers a variety of stunning necklaces made from refashioned vintage pearls and crystals -- perfect for the bride looking to capture that retro feel with a more modern look. And these fun baubles look great with a lot of the newer-style dresses out on the market right now.
