Hey there, time traveller!

OFFICIALS at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights searched for a restaurant partner, but all they had to do was look across the parking lot.
The Inn at the Forks beat six others — local, national and international companies — to operate the eatery, which will seat 70 people.
Stu Murray, president of the museum, said the Inn at The Forks proposal included a “significant” contribution to the capital costs as well as the highest rate of return of all the would-be operators.

“They’ve shown they’ve done this before. The fact they are a tourist marketing operation as well as a destination restaurant, all of those things fit,” he said.
Inn at the Forks is one of three hotels managed by Winnipeg’s Sparrow Hotels. The others are the Norwood Hotel and the Mere Hotel on Waterfront Drive, which opens in November. It also manages the Riverstone Spa at Inn at the Forks.
The museum restaurant will include a patio but it won’t be the only place to eat at the $351-million facility. Food and drink will be served at a number of smaller break-out areas throughout the museum.
The restaurant will showcase Manitoba cuisine and support local producers.
It will align with human rights principles such as fair trade and environmental responsibility. Lunch entrees will be available for $10 to $12.
“We will stand with the top restaurants in Winnipeg,” said Ben Sparrow, general manager at Inn at the Forks.
The restaurant has not yet been named.
Murray said he hopes to announce the museum’s opening date within the next few weeks. A few weeks after that, it will start taking bookings for 2014 events.
