A seven-year-old boy drowned at a pool in Thompson Sunday afternoon, RCMP report.

EMS workers performed CPR on the unresponsive boy at Thompson’s Norplex Pool at about 3:30 p.m., RCMP said.

The Split Lake boy was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The boy was swimming with friends and may have strayed away from the group into a deeper area of the pool, the statement said, adding foul play is not suspected.
