Red River College is putting a charge in the local electric car market today.
The college is unveiling a Level 3 (30KW DC) electric-vehicle quick charging station at 10 a.m. at the Notre Dame campus this morning.
The first of its kind in Manitoba, a Level 3 station can give an electric vehicle an 80 per cent charge in 15 to 30 minutes; that’s a noticeable jump in juice from a Level 2 station, which only provides a full charge in a minimum of four hours.
The charger will be open to all Level 3 charger compliant electric vehicle owners who register with the college.
RRC interim president David Rew, as well as representatives from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Manitoba Electric Vehicle Association and CAA Manitoba will be on hand for the unveiling.
