A second body in less than a week has been found near Leaf Rapids, RCMP say.
The northern Manitoba unit confirmed a search party found a second set of human remains Thursday.
No foul play is suspected and the body has not yet been identified, RCMP spokesman Sgt. Bert Paquet said in a news release.
"We are not in a position to confirm the identity of the remains at this time, pending further forensic examination and investigative steps to ensure certainty," Paquet said. "Investigators have already been in contact with those believed to be the family of the deceased and remain dedicated to bring them closure as soon as possible."
On Sunday, a search party found human remains off a trail in the Leaf Rapids area, RCMP said.
The police haven’t yet confirmed the identity of this person either. Foul play is not suspected in the case, said Paquet.
The chief medical examiner and RCMP forensic specialists are currently working on both cases to make positive identifications of the bodies, police said.
