The man who was seriously hurt in an explosion outside a St. Boniface business this morning was a 55-year-old worker, a provincial government spokeswoman said.
The man was hurt when a barbecue propane tank exploded behind Ken’s Carpet and Urban Home Style Centre at 730 Archibald St. at about 9:40 a.m. He was rushed to hospital and is in critical condition, she said. A Workplace Safety and Health officer attended the scene and the explosion is under investigation.
"We first want to send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the individual hurt in today’s explosion," the provincial spokeswoman said. Archibald Street was blocked at Deniset Street this morning while emergency workers attended the scene.
