Fastball pitcher Mandy Greenberg was chosen the 2015 Winnipeg Jewish Athlete of the Year at the 43rd annual Rady Jewish Community Centre sports dinner tonight.
She was presented with the Max and Idy Nusgart Memorial Award.
Greenberg, 24, played the 2014 season with the Smitty’s Terminators and won the Manitoba Softball Association’s top senior female player award.
Greenberg spend four years at Minot State University (2010-13), helping the school to its first-ever NCAA Division II national title.
She bested fellow finalists Micah Sommer, a football player with the St. Paul’s Crusaders, tennis player Saul Shrom, gymnast Emma Leipsic, diver Serena Buchwald, and Jeremey Leipsic of the Winnipeg Wild AAA Midget hockey team.
