The Lac du Bonnet Heritage Advisory Committee is set to put up a new heritage display that commemorates the town’s aviation history. However, people will first have a chance to see the complex monument up close before it’s put on display.
Silver Meridian, a new sculpture by Gordon Reeve, will be at the Lac du Bonnet Rural Municipal Office Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Reeve will host a presentation of his work and display the complex structure which is 20 feet by 20 feet by 7 feet.
It will be the only chance people will have to see the monument up close. On Thursday at 3 p.m. the sculpture will be unveiled at its permanent site located on the Laker’s Ski Club Park which overlooks the Winnipeg River.
The monument will be placed on a 20-foot column and will rotate in response to air movement. Mist will emanate from the bottom of the sculpture.
