This spot on the outskirts of northwest Winnipeg was dubbed the "cement cemetery" by the friends who introduced it to me in my teens.
The purpose of the site is unclear: monument to dystopia? Abandoned building project? Concrete testing zone? The latter seems the most likely, since the columns appear to be marked with numbers -- possibly dates? If so, some have been in the ground since the 1950s.

The purpose of the "cement cemetery" is unclear.
There's no equipment around, no sign of use -- just two mounds of grass pierced with dozens of columns and a small brick box between them.
Perhaps that mystery is what attracts me to it; it's an enigmatic subject that complements my lo-fi photography experiments.
