The Selinger government has announced an additional $100 million in road building and repair projects for the coming year.
Premier Greg Selinger made the announcement today at the Legislative Building along with representatives from the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association and the Manitoba Trucking Association.
He said the projects are in addition to contracts put out for tender last November.
Selinger declined to say how much the government would spent on roadwork in Manitoba in 2014-2015, saying that would be announced in the March 6 budget.
He said the latest announcement would create another 1,140 jobs. The new projects will be spread across Manitoba.
"Good jobs need good infrastructure, and good infrastructure leads to good jobs," he said.
The government has promised to spend additional revenues from last year’s one-point increase in the provincial sales tax on new and improved infrastructure.
