A Sandy Bay First Nation man is charged with attempted murder following a shooting Wednesday on the reserve north of Portage la Prairie.
Dakota Ojibway Police Service officers were called to a residence where a 69-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound.
He was taken to a hospital in Winnipeg in stable condition where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. He is expected to make a full recovery, police said in a release.
Officers found that a man had gone to the victim’s residence to collect $10 owed to him. Following a scuffle, the victim was shot and a suspect fled.
Nathaniel Braden Roulette, 23, is charged with attempted murder and numerous firearm-related offences.
He was remanded into custody and will appear in a Winnipeg court Friday.
