A teenage driver was forced to jam her vehicle into reverse after a man with a handgun tapped on her window.
Const. Jason Michalyshen said the 17-year-old girl, and another 17-year-old, were waiting for a family member to get off work in the 200 block of Regal Avenue when two men wearing disguises approached their vehicle Saturday at about 10 p.m.
Michalyshen said the driver sped backwards after the man used a replica 357-magnum BB gun to tap on the window.
The officer said the man pointed the gun at them as they sped away.
"It would be a very terrifying situation for anyone," he said.
Police patrols, the canine unit and tactical support team quickly responded and two men were found hiding in a nearby field. The gun was found nearby.
Franco Chartrand, 25, has been charged with several offences including disguise with intent, pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon. He has been remanded into custody.
