Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the heist of 40 Canada Goose jackets in November.
The coats were stolen from an outdoor clothing business in the 2000 block of Corydon Avenue after a large front window was smashed. The coats had an estimated value of $15,000.
Police say some of the jackets were taken to a business on Selkirk Avenue, and on Nov. 17, an individual had posted an online ad offering Canada Goose jackets for sale. As a result, police arrested a 35-year-old man at the Selkirk Avenue business. He has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Police then released surveillance photos of two women they suspected of stealing the jackets. As a result, a 29-year-old woman was arrested, and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Then on Dec. 2, officers with a search warrant entered a suite located in the 500 block of Young Street. While there, they arrested a man and the second woman in the surveillance photos.
Cornell Lee Belanger, 33, was charged with break, enter and theft. Tahnee Wapash, 27,was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and break, enter and theft. Both are from Winnipeg and have been remanded into custody.
