Carman lawyer Shauna McCarthy and Winnipeg Crown attorney Keith Eyrikson were appointed to Manitoba's provincial court and are joining the bench effective immediately, Justice Minister Cliff Cullen announced Friday.
McCarthy was called to the bar in 1994 and has represented Central and Dauphin regions for the Law Society of Manitoba since 2016. She has worked as a private practice lawyer, with experience representing Child and Family Services agencies as well as working in criminal defence.
Eyrikson has been a provincial Crown attorney since 2002 and served as president of the Manitoba Association of Crown Attorneys.
McCarthy and Eyrikson are replacing two retiring provincial court judges: Robin Finlayson and Robert Pollack, who have each been provincial court judges for 13 years.
An independent judicial nominating committee chaired by Manitoba provincial court Chief Judge Margaret Wiebe recommended a list of candidates from which Eyrikson and McCarthy were selected.
