Winnipeg police are searching for an armed and dangerous man wanted for multiple sexual offences against children who was confirmed to be in the city on Thursday.
Aaron Renee Prasad-Pal, 24, is on the run from multiple criminal charges in Edmonton, including luring a child under 16, sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching, Winnipeg police said Friday.
Police spokesman Const. Rob Carver said they had confirmed information Prasad-Pal was in the city Thursday afternoon and evening.
"We have been looking for him since information came forward yesterday, and there is certainly a belief that he could still be in Winnipeg," Carver said.
"Given the nature of the charges he is facing in Edmonton... coupled with the fact he’s believed to be armed, would lay out that he poses a severe risk, a definite risk, to public safety. With that sort of background, we are devoting significant resources to attempting to locate him."
Anyone who sees Prasad-Pal, or has information about his whereabouts, is told not to approach him and call 911 immediately. He is described as South Asian, 6-foot-3, 238 pounds with black hair and black eyes.
"Under no circumstances should he be approached," Carver said.
