Almost six months to the day Cynthia Parisian was last seen, her family has issued an appeal to the public to help find the 38-year-old mother, sister and daughter.
"We just want to ask anybody with any sort of information to come forward. Any tips, anything would help," said Parisian’s younger sister, Colleen, supported by three other family members at a police news conference Monday morning. "She’s a wonderful person."
Parisian was last seen at the Home Depot at 845 Leila Ave. on the afternoon of Feb. 17. She was wearing dark clothing and a pink tuque, and is described as Indigenous in appearance. Parisian is approximately 5-3 with a heavy build, and has brown hair and brown eyes.
Colleen said it’s out of character for her sister to be gone for so long without checking in.
"She usually tries to contact either me or her mother with any sort of situation, whether she’s in trouble, or if she needs somebody to talk to, anything," she said.
Winnipeg Police Service spokesman Const. Rob Carver said investigators are asking anyone who may have information to come forward, even if what it seems like an inconsequential detail.
"A tip that turns out to be a false lead is still useful," said Carver. "It’s the job of our detectives to make sure that they research all of those and investigate them, and if they don’t pan out, so be it — but the last thing we would want to suggest is that somebody sit on it and think, ‘Well, maybe it’s nothing.’"
Her family welcomes any information that might help bring Parisian home. Her daughter Nycole recently had a baby boy.
"She would like her mother to meet him," said Colleen. "We just want her home."
Police said they are concerned for Parisian’s well-being. Investigators are requesting that anyone who recalls seeing Parisian anytime before or after she was last seen, or anyone with information regarding her whereabouts, contact the missing persons unit at 204-986-6250, or Winnipeg Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
